Description
Telangiectasias, commonly called 'spider veins,' are small purple to red blood vessels often visible on the face. The cause is unknown, but heredity plays a strong role in the development of this condition. Telangectasias are progressive, and usually increase in number and visibility with age.

Candidates
You may be a candidate for treatment of facial veins or telangectasias if you are concerned with the appearance of these veins.

Procedures - Non Invasive
Telangectasias located on the face may be treated with slerotherapy or laser treatment. Sclerotherapy involves injection of a sclerosing agent into the veins, rendering them less noticeable. The laser uses light-based energy to minimize vein appearance.

Recovery
Any discomfort associated with this treatment is minimal and short-lived allowing most people to quickly return to their normal activities and to work.
